4mm Neutral Density Reverse Grad

Reverse ND grads are specialty filters designed for shooting sunrise and sunset where the highest luminance is near the horizon line. The reverse grad features a hard transition in the center of the filter (similar to the hard edge grad) but reduce in density toward the top of the filter. Formatt-Hitech filters are made from the highest quality Schott Superwite glass.

Graduated Neutral Density

Graduated filters have an effect that occurs on one area of the filter and transitions to clear on other areas of the filter. Typically graduated filters are used to enhance the sky or terrain, or balance the luminosity of the sky to the luminosity of the terrain. For hard and soft grad filters, colors are often deployed (such as sunset or twilight) to enhance the color of the sky.

Reverse Grads

The reverse grad is a vital tool if you are looking to take sunrise or sunset shots. This is because the ND part of the grad is upside down, with the darker part at the middle of the filter and the lighter part at the top. This ensures the maximum light reduction when the sun is at or near the horizon.
